I’m a big fan of margaritas in the summertime (or any time for that matter). I love a boozy drink that is light and refreshing without being overly sweet. A lot of margarita mixes are TOO sweet with syrups and artificial sweeteners, which also contain a lot of calories and feel heavy. Not what I’m going for when it’s 95 degrees outside. With the 4th of July right around the corner, I’m sharing my super simple skinny margarita recipe – with ingredients you probably already have. I’ve swapped out a few ingredients to be calorie-friendly and keep you feeling light.
You’ll Need:
- A clear tequila of your choice – I like Casa Amigos and Dahlia
- Limes or Lime Juice – about 6 limes or the equivalent of 4 oz.
- Sparkling water – I use Topo Chico
- Salt or Tajin for the rim
To Make (Serves 2 Small Margaritas):
- Rim glasses with salt or Tajin
- Fill glasses halfway full with ice
- In a shaker combine: 2-3 shots of tequila, 4 oz of lime juice – shake well
- Split the contents of the shaker into 2 glasses (glasses should be 3/4 of the way full)
- Top with Topo Chico
- Garnish with a slice of lime
Feel free to play around with the measurements of the ingredients to your liking. You could even add some blended fruit or juice to make fruity margaritas. Comment below if you’ve tried it!
